The engine has developed a loud ticking noise, it sounds low down on the drivers side any suggestions as to the cause, apart from the noise the car runs normally.

I realise it's difficult to pin point the problem over the net but could it be the crankshaft pulley I've heard they can wear loose.

Good news I found the cause of the ticking, bad news is it turned out to be the dual mass flywheel which in turn wrecked the clutch release bearing. Even with maximum discount from the main dealer and doing it ourselves (no labour charges) it still cost £375.
Incidentally I've since found a manufacturer that sells a modified a clutch plate that allows a solid mass flywheel to be fitted to the pull type system it works out at about £250 complete but next time it needs replacing you only have to get the drive and pressure plate kit for about £85.

hi depending on the year of the vehicle peugeot have extended the warranty allowence on these parts contact your nearest peugeot dealer to see what the allowance is rgd
