Hello

My Focus05 a/c blows warm air so I thought it must've run low on referigerant. Hoping to save a few quid, I bought the DIY kit off ebay. Unfortunatley, finding the low-side service port proved to be no easy thing.

The internet is filled of information about the previous model where I understood that the port is located at the right hand inner fender area.. However, there's no hint on whether it stays around the same place in the new version.

So I opened the bonnet and found two visible ports. One of which perfectly fitted the end of the hose attached to the referigerant filling can. I assumed (and liked to think) that it could be the sough-after service port.. I then started the engine and ran the a/c on full blast. The gauge read "low pressure" so i push in some referigerant untill adequate pressure showed. It didn't take long though .. maybe less than 10 seconds which I found strange. Anyways, the bad news is that the air still comes out warm. And now, am terrified that I filled the referigerant into the wrong place!

Any idea? Have I done a disastrous thing?

I attach a picture of where exactly I tried to top-up the system.

Thanks!

i am not sure of the position of the port on the 05 i have an 03 diesal tdci one way to check whats wrong is to short out the low pressure switch this will at least tell you if the control circuit and the compressor are working (the light on the switch means not a lot) when the engine is stopped chalk or paint pen a line across the magnetic clutch on the compressor put in a link in the low pressure switch plug a piece of wire there are only two wires start the car if both marks are rotating together then the circuit and compressor are working this a least says low gas pressure but of course there may be a leak
the low pressure switch is located here on the 03

Thanks very much for replying..

well actually the system seems to be working .. i topped up the refrigeratant. However, now am getting cold air from only two vents (the ones on the passenger side) while warm air for the rest!!!

Have you come across this very strange thing?!

Cheers
