I HAVE A X-REG FRONTERA SPORT RS 2.2, THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON, SO TOOK IT TO GARAGE. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE EGR VALVE THAT SHOWED UP ON DIAGNOSTICS. THEY TOOK IT OFF, CLEANED IT AND REPLACED IT. IT RAN OK FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN STARTED JUDDERING AT 2000-2500REVS, IT WAS OK ABOVE THIS AND BELOW. THEN ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, TOOK IT IN AGAIN, AGAIN DIAGNOSTICS SAID IT WAS THE EGR VALVE, SO HAD IT REPLACED WITH NEW ONE. TOOK IT FROM GARAGE WENT ABOUT A MILE AND ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WHEN TOOK IT BACK TO GARAGE, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A DIAGNOSTICS SPECIALIST GOING TO THE GARAGE NEXT DAY, SO THEY WOULD LET HIM HAVE A LOOK. THEY HOOKED UP THE CAR TO THE MOBILE DIAGNOSTICS AND RAN IT WITH THIS CONNECTED, STILL SAID IT WAS THE EGR VALVE. SPECIALIST SAID IT MAY BE A BLOCKAGE IN THE MANIFOLD, SO THEY CLEANED THIS OUT. RAN CAR FOR A COUPLE OF MILES, THEN ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON YET AGAIN, BUT THE CAR WAS NOW RUNNING OK, NO JUDDERING. TOOK IT BACK, GARAGE OWNER SAID THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, IT SEEMED AS IF THE ECU WAS TELLING THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT THAT THERE WAS A BLOCKAGE WHEN THERE WASNT. CAR RUNS FINE, PULLS AWAY OK, EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL RUNNING, JUST THAT THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME NOW. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT THIS.

It cud b the ecu.. becos it keeps readin there's a fault it will automatically stay on . if they light has been on 4 a while and you've left it it will f**k up the ecu so my advice wud b 2 get an ecu .. a lot of money but like you've sed the car is runnin fine so i wud not bother ... its up 2 u

hi my name is andy i have same prob with my engine management light not on all the time but over 2500 reves and it is on just asking if you are any further forword with this prob yours A.

can you get the garage to tell you what the fault code exactly says and post it on here, have known this b4 and its a blockage within the cylinder head and requires a top end clean out check and rebuild
