hi all, daft question i know...but can anyone shed any light on a really daft problem with my escort van.

its the reverse lights, they are not working at all, have checked bulbs and tried replacing fuses...(although they were those cheap pound shop type)

could it be wiring?

cheers guys

it is rare for them to fail, but they do, ive replaced 2 or 3 over the years, not sure where on the gearbox it is on yours, but it will have a electrical plug connector with wires coming away from it, have a look on google images for "escort reverse light switch" as a rough guide to what your looking for

the switch goes in the side of the gearbox screws in has 2 wires going to it. look down to the ground between the battery and the engine cooling fan and you wiil see it screwed in the side.colin

cheers tommy, yes that's exactly what it is, found out about the gearbox yesterday when a mate who's a mechanic was replacing the wishbone...oh well at least i know ive got a new gearbox and engine!

i also didnt realize that you reverse lights are not part the MOT, just have to use Hazards when reversing i guess
