Although I am advertising for medals, I am also happy to give free advice to anyone who does not want to sell, but is just interested in understanding any medals that they have.

Hi timbo, just wonderd if you could help me. My dad was at dunkirk and I have his medals (i think) they are the three i think most people got and i thought i had the real ones. I say this because I think for some reason he had copies made to give the family. I have been told that the real ones would have had his name engraved around the edge but how about the star ? my question is do you think i could have the real ones...........................mine do not have any engraving of his name. Thank you for any answer you can give me.

Hi, thanks for your Email. British medals from world war 2 do not have the recipients names on them. The government at the time decided it would cost too much to have the names impressed on them, typical !!!
I would think that you have the originals. send me a photo if you can.

Hi timbo, many thanks for your reply, it is heart warming to think they might be originals. Would you beleve my camera has been destroyed by me taking it to the beach only two weeks ago, a Sony, a great camera.!!!!!!!! I will be getting another one when the pennies are available and would love to send you pictures then. Thanks for your help on this.
