Google anounce it's developing a new operating system for notebooks but will eventually power desktops too. It's a completely new design architecture so users will not have to worry about viruses, malware etc.

Very interesting stuff.

:)

Hi Doc,
Yes,its based on Linux like other netbooks but I dont fancy saving my doc's and other files on Googles servers which is how they plan to operate. I prefer to keep my personal stuff on my own PC.
I am using a Linux os on my desktop as it's more secure than Windows.

Regards

Peter

If you keep your files online (cloud computing) you might not see them again if you fail to keep up your subscription payments. Like Peter says use a Linux system, you can get them for free, very secure and easy to use these days. Buy a Red Hat Linux user book, the discs come with the book and the book tells you how the system works.

Hi all,
Yes,Linux is the best in my opinion and much more fun, although not for everybody.
See my screen shot of my os which is PCLinux OS---you can either download or see "thelinuxshop.co.uk" and linuxformat.co.uk.
I would suggest buying a linux magazine from paper shop or supermarket to read more about it.There is usually a disk included with one or two OS's on it.
Choose a Linux os that is a "Live Install" and you can boot your Windows pc with it which will run the os without disturbing your current Operating System. This way you will find out if your hardware is compatable.
Many of these give you the option to make a full install.PClinuxOS is one of them(the one I use).
Ubuntu is another very popular os among many more.

Hope this info is useful to anyone interested.

Regards
