Hi all,

We have a 5 month old son and we're planning on going camping this summer at some point.

Any tips?? e.g. sleeping arrangements...any good firm mattresses recommended?

All info highly appreciated!

Do u have a travel cot???

Don't know the berth on your tent but if its big enough u shld be able to fit a travel cot in there in one of the bedrooms!!

That and a baby sleeping bag shld be good! Our lo has one with arms which keeps him snuggly thru the night.

hello dont know if youve been or not but it might be worth your while looking at a samsonite its like a collapsible moses basket with a mosquito net dosent take up much room in the car as space is at a premium when camping with children as you will soon learn or the tent if you only have a small berth tent good luck

Hi,

Our tent is a 5 berth so could house a Samsonite-esque travel cot...but our son's a 21lb baby now and they're too small! Besides, the reason I asked about mattresses is because we bed share so need him closer to us.

Thanks for both your comments though!

I can see why a travel cot would be no good if u bedshare...lol...

I never got on with blow up mattresses in the tent cos you always end up on the floor by the morning anyway cos they deflate.....

We use the camping mats and then put a quilt over the top and snuggle in the sleeping bags - not the best but easier than rolling off the top of the camping matresses

Aerobed sell a king size self-inflating mattress: -

We have their double one and they are puncture proof and very comfortable. Granted they're not the cheapest in the world but if you're co-sleeping then the size would be important to you I guess.

I can't recommend them highly enough. What I would say though is find out what sort of pump it is before you go camping though. The one we have is rechargeable, some you have to plug into a socket.

Hope that helps, good luck and let us know what you decide to do and how you get on xxx
