Fiat Punto 55SX Engine problem

She went to work early then come home for a couple of hours and when it was time for her to go out again the car struggled to fire up and when it has started the car is missing, when you accelerate it's as if it has lost power and there's like a loud ticking/rattling noise ( only when the car is revved up). Iv tried to investigate this myself and to me it sounds like the loud ticking/rattling noise is coming from the back of the engine down below. Any ideas please what this could be or suggestions of what i could try to try and solve the loss of power, the struggling of it starting up and the noise when revved?
