xantia towbar advice

hi,ive just had a tow bar fitted to my xantia 1.8 xreg,and i need to know if it is fitted right ,it dos nt go along back of car but goes from ball under spair wheel and bolts (1) onto cross cection with may be 2 more bolts up into boot.it is bolted to rear chassi but only as isay behind ball its a anker tow bar fitted buy an old geezer (doin it 35 yrs etc).hope it si right ,any xantia owners info please.........pal.

It should be ok but mine did go from side to side and fitted thru the predrilled holes from Citroen. 3 holes doesn't sound like a lot to be honest, are you pulling much weight?

There are several designs about perhaps a quick search on Google may find other people who have the same towbar on and perhaps how many of that design have sold.

thanks shell,have since spoke to tow bar maker anker who say is perfectly fine ,but also that it is a pre 98 tow bar my xantia being a 2000 reg ,i think may have trouble at next mot as i think tow bars r now in test ,ta sean.
