Does anyone have any ideas on selling crafts? I do quilting as a hobby and love it but there is only so much you need yourself and cannot afford to keep giving them as gifts.
An example of a recent baby quilt I made is attached... I never make two the same so all are unique. I also make bags, cushions and quillows (quilts that fold up into cushions).
My hobby is my relaxation so can't stop making stuff!

You could try getting in touch with the PTAs of local schools. They often run easter/summer/Christmas fayres and are happy to have paying stalholders come along.

WOW! What a beautiful quilt!!!! Try your local schools, churches, hospices and other charity shops to see if they are having a fund raising craft fair in the autumn and I am sure you would sell them there. Trouble is with handcrafted items, people don't want to pay the high price for the amount of work you have put in, so make sure you price them reasonable. You could also try and sell them on E Bay. Perhaps make quilts to fit a dolls or baby's coachbuilt pram, there are loads of us who love dressing up these prams and one of your quilts would look great. Good luck! I wish I had your patience and talent!

hi, ebay is a good idea, but etsy.com is probably better. its for hand crafted goods only, it is american but you do sell all over the world, I use it for lampworked beads (thats what I do I am Izzybeads on Etsy and Laney's Lampwork Beads on e-bay....shameless plug there!), you pay approx 20p (but etsy works in dollars) to list anything for 4 months then they take a small percentage on the sale, its a shop not an auction. another one is folksy.co.uk (I think, could be .com) I have an account with them but have never used it...yet, have known of people who have had good sales though. good luck with internet selling, other than that school fetes/fairs and street markets/fairs. beautiful quilts I am sure that you would do well on any of the internet selling sites, a tip with etsy is to keep it current and revise prices as the dollar/pound goes up and down.

ps, forgot to say, to sign up to etsy and folksy is free.

Wow I would take a look at the WAHM (work at home mothers) website http://www.wahm.co.uk as you'll find lots of help and advice about selling home made products on line.

Join their forum just tell them that Sue form prem2pram sent you and I'm sure you'll get a very warm welcome.

On the forum you can ask questins about selling home made products etc.

Well, I'm male and personally think the quilts you make are fantastic! so where do I buy one from in King size then??

I have a little interest, apart from collecting coins, I make encased key rings, many are ideal for birthdays celebrations etc., (from the old £sd to decimal) I have the same problem, needing an outlet.

Reading the replies, it has given me a few idea's, but wary of charges on some sites.
Good luck to you.....still want one!

i used to make cards for cancer and sold them in our church cafe

you could raffle some of them keep what you paid out for materials

and give the rest to cancer or your favourite charity

that way you are getting back what you paid out and also giving something to others that need help

you could take the photo to your local charity shop etc, ie church, mother and baby groups, doctors,

Hi Loadsafabric!
Your quilts look superb and very well made.
Why not try selling them on http:// http://www.folksy.com which is a UK based Crafters Website for selling all things handmade/creative.
You can get your own shop for free, which you just upload your the pictures of your work into (you pay 20p for each item you list for sale) and when it sells a small commision of 3.00% is payable on the price which it sells for.

Hope this onfo helps and best of luck with everything !

Truffles :-)

Personalising them with the babys name would be easy enough - the quilts themselves are already individually named with a suitable 'title' with a label on the back which includes baby's birth details.

People usually do pick the colours/themes to order and they are all personalised on the back with a label
