ive got a samsung u900 on a 18 month contract with orange. it broke after about 8 months one of the keypad buttons stopped functioning so they replaced it for free for me ,although i was insured at the time it would have got replaced anyway as it was under the warrenty they said. This time the screens stopped functioning, completely blank screen ive tryed everything the last few days but it definatly dead. My mum took it to orange shop and they said they would repair it for free but then they realised my phone has already been replaced once so they cant fix it for some reason and we were told to ring orange. Rang orange, took ages to get through then they said they would repair it for me....for £60! Now the phone is only 11 months old so surely i can get it under warrenty but now they are telling me my warrenty was only 6 months and i have no idea where i can find out what my warrenty really is im pretty sure its 12 months My mum cancelled my insurance a few months ago as my bill was getting to expensive. But surely if my contract is 18 months old they should provide me with a phone that will last for that duration! Otherwise it looks like ive got to find the money for a new phone but will still be paying my contract for the other phone as it doesnt run out for ages and to cancel the contract will cost the same amount anyway. Can anyone help?

I'M sorry but usually LCD's only usually only stop working when they've had a knock or liquid damage . your warranty is to repair FACTORY/manufacturing faults any such faults would have appeared ages ago so I'm afraid thet this is down to you . As your contract still has a while to run your cheapest option is probably to buy another (second hand ? ) phone .
If your new phone is either on your existing network , OR , unlocked you can just put your sim in and carry on . If the phone is locked you can take it to someone like me (steves accessorries ) and get your phone unlocked .
We currently charge £10 or less for most mobiles on a while-u-wait service and often less for postal service .

hi ya, I used to work for both phones 4 u (btw never buy from them!!!) and just recently o2. the best network by my reckoning. Anyway, by 'retail' law, the provider, ie orange, should offer to repair it for you under warranty UNLESS, the screen is cracked or inside the screen it's 'bled' this only occurs as steve said when the phone has been pressed on hard even if in ya pocket its so easily done, therefore, if that is the case, your insurance will cover for accidental damage and excess would be approx £25, which will be added to your actual line rental bill. However, if this is not the case, you must persist that the shop send it to their repair centre as it is there duty under the sales and goods act... i would insist you speak to a manager and dont move until they send it away for you. if they are stubborn, ask to use there phone to call their customer service department... honestly, they are obliged to do this for you so DONT be fobbed off. With regards to a loan phone, this is a service which most shops will offer unless they have them all booked out of course. they may require a refundable deposit on return of the loan phone.. hope this helps and if you need any more help just send me a message.

regards

claire
