Why dont you join Freecycle.org.uk It is a freindly Yahoo website (there will be one local to you) where you can get things given free. The purpose of the website is to donate or post wanted ads (free) for what you have or want, the purpose being to stop good items going to the tip & filling up landsites thus disfiguring our beautiful countryside. It is free to join just type in http://www.freecycle.org.uk & your location. It's that simple. You will be amazed what people give away!.
