Cat flap on a caravan?! And any re-decoration tips pleeeease!
Messages 1 to 8 of 8.
We're about to collect our first ever van - a 1997 Sterling Europa 500/5. It's in good nick, but a little dated looking internally, so I plan to recover the upholstery, curtains, carpets, change the door handles and a few little bits and bobs. I wondered about the walls though - has anyone successfully painted over the vinyl boards, or papered over them? Especially in the bathroom, as they're awful in there! Secondly, maybe a bit bizarre, but how difficult would it be to fit a cat flap to the door of the caravan? Got 2 cats that come everywhere with us, and don't see why the caravan should be any exception. Also, I know sites have dog policies, has anyone heard anything about cats? Would they even know they were with us? Thanks very much in advance for any help on this or any other matters that I mightn't have thought of yet that anyone can provide!

You might be better off buying the sticky back vinyl rolls, rather than painting it...But it will need to be done carefully to remove the bubbles. As goes for the cat flap in the door it should be an easy job, also when you come to sell the van the door is easy to get hold of as they are bought seperate from the caravan and of a standard size.. Did a bit more research and a few people have said that if you use kitchens and bathrooms paint, you can paint over the panels successfully, so I might give it a go in a small area and see how it goes - if not, the sticky rolls will be a good backup. I'll report back for anyone else wondering the same thing!

They've shredded the net curtains (great - I hate the nets!) Enjoy your caravanning!

We did paint the interior of the bathroom with plain white kitchens and bathrooms - I think it was called Dulux bathrooms Plus, and it came up absolutely brilliantly. Not sure how it would stand up to lots of running water, but we don't plan to use the shower much so it shouldn't be a problem. Getting there slowly!
