I have vauxhall astra sri but this morning when i started it up i noticed on the dash it said INSPEC the car drove fine but when i tried to start it up later on it wouldnt start.

It was trying to tick over but nothing was happening. After a few tries ive got it to start but it doesnt sound right when it starts up?

Any ideas? Is the INSPEC because there is a fault or because it needs serviced?

Thanks

Usually inspec means it need to be put pn a computer to see what sensor is playing up, you have a car/spanner light that shows up when your car needs a service.

You didnt say what year your astra is but im guessing that its the new shape, is the car still under warranty? If so take it to vauxhalls, if not then take it to an independent garage as vauxhall are just a total and utter rip off.

Let us know how you get on.

INSPEC simply means the car is due for service, i.e. has reached the service interval milage since last time INSPEC was reset.
The car spanner light should show up when there is a problem and the fault code has been stored, which is when it needs to go on a computer to read this.
INSPEC is easy to re set, but dont forget the car as still needs a service

My mates astra also had inspec come up on his car and needed a new ecu to clear the problem, apparently a common fault.

Cant see how inspec comin up on your car can make it run rough as an old dog if its just a service light???

Not dissing you at all white van man, as remember my ex corsa came up insp when it was due a service, so your right on the lights but what havce vauxhall done right swervice due run like a piece of crap till ya service it with us... lol
