A group of Kangeroos. Not quite what i expected to see in the garden, on the first morning of our home swap to Australia. As you can imagine the children were delighted. Me, I just wanted to know if they could bite, and would it come into the house. We had already had our first night disrrupted by possums playing on the roof. But this is what we came to Australia for. To live as a local , with the comforts of home. We had exchanged our modest cottage on the Welsh borders for a Queenslander house in Yeppoon ,on the sunshine coast of Australia. We spent the next five weeks cramming in everything Australian. Barbecues on the beach, crocodiles at the zoo, kangeroos and koalas galore, it was everything we had expected and more. We travelled in July supposedly the Aussie winter, but we spent lazy days on the beach fishing and diving . The house was perfect for us with plenty of garden, and room to spread .When it was time to leave i felt quite an attachment to the house and area and had managed to feel quite like a local. Brilliant try it!!

There are a lot of web sites for home swaps if you go through Google. I join the free ones and put my home onto them asking for a swap with where i want to go and when. I have already had a few for next year including Australia, America and Tel Aviv! You can also look through and email the ones that you like. When doing a home swap make sure you are swapping with people on a par with you.I was offered a penthouse with white carpets and sofas once which would have been a disaster with my boys. I have listed a couple of sites take a look and i will answer any more questions you have. We have done many now with no disasters, Australia and France.

Hi I dont know of any off hand though i do know people will swap and look after each others pets. Not actually taking them with you.I would suggest you look at the home swap sites and find ones that have pets and then ask them. On some of the listings it does say yes or no to pets.
