Hi, just recently, whenever I use my washing machine, the smell of stagnant water is awful. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how to fix it?
Thanks
Tim

check the washing machine outlet hose that goes to the waste pipe or if it connects to the sink outlet that it is not going uphill as u could get sink waste back filling into your machine.another trick try a dilute solution of bleach or soda crystals on a hot wash with the machine empty or if your machine has a filter find it and clean out any debris in the filter trap.hope this helps and good luck

We have the same problem , tried all the usual tricks ( works for a while ) then happens again so i think it poss is blocked further along somewhere ( where of course you can't get to ) ); any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated too .

does the machine pump all the water out on its final cycle and does your machine waste go into a wastepipe upstand or connected to the sink waste if it is connected to a combined sinkwaste make sure your machine outlet hose is always higher than the connection of the waste pick up to stop foul sink water and waste backflowing down the washing machine waste hose .

Mention on t.v. and said it could be due to the fact that we now do our washing on low temp. wash so now and then do a pretty hot wash, and found it does seem to work

use a whole pack of soda crystals in drum and a bottle of white vinigar in the drewer and put on hottest and longest wash do this empty, may have to repeat this clears all smalls unless waste is getting in from u bend from sink.
