Mondeo Engine Shuddering

I've had some good advise from you before and hoping you can help me with a problem I'm having with my Mondeo. Its a 2001 2.0 TDdI. and has done 116,000 miles. While idling the engine has started to shudder/vibrate every few seconds and the revs drop slightly before going up again. When driving the ride doesnt seem smooth either. Hope this isnt too serious. I'm not sure if this is related but I have driven it with low fuel earlier this week. However I've filled up so can this be related? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Mondeoman
