I get an occasional clunk & surge as though the cluch has been depressed and reengaged without any provocation. This is intermittent and can go days without ocurring then happens 3/4 times. Thereafter the car performs normally the car is 3 years old and only has 30,000 mile on clock & no it has not towed anything. Is this a sign of slipping clutch?

you should get a rise in revs and a loss of aceleration to match if the clutch is slipping

Get none of that it is more like a total loss of power, then a clunk as power engages again after a slit second. This is a spasmodic fault. Does not occur every day and then only a few times. Maddening.
