hi, i have a escort rs2000 16v mk5, car starts after about 3 tries when cold, really struggles to start when warm, it's had new plugs, leads, crankshaft sensor, any idea's

hi mate, yes running great, it does'nt start when engine is warm

on fuel-injected cars, there are sensors which tell the ECU what the water and air temps are. If they are faulty, they may be causing the engine to get too much petrol when hot.

cheers mate, about aff ma head with this problem, took the idle speed valve off cleaned it fired up thought i had it,but not, but started again, idle tick over dropped, foot off the pedal cut out, first time it's done that; took out the fuel pump relay started no problem, what do you think

could do aith an emmission test on it to see what it is reading, these cars are bad for lambda sensors and worse than that cracked inlet ports in the cylinderhead .Did a couple when i worked at the dealers

cheers mate, failed mot for emissions,but lambda sensor passed,needs a cat none on it, do you think this could be the problem?

Ouch thats gonna cost. I personally dont think putting a CAT on will cure your problem. Look fwd to finding out though lol

hi mate, finally fixed the problem, changed the water temp sensors, started when warm, but was still not right, then renewed all the wiring from the coilpacks to the fuel rails, bingo so pleased, cheers for your help mate
