Hello all. I have bought (today) a slightly damp (both end windows), quite rusty underneath (but should clean up ok) Lunar Clubman 4 berth. It came with all original papers and receipts for all items on board. It was bought in 1977 but the motto by the door reads Clubman 1978.
I have some stupid questions (new to caravanning).
The manual lists a selection of tyre pressures and wheel sizes but nowhere does it state which type is currently fitted. Does anyone know? Or would any from the list suffice?
The fittings are all propane/gas/12v the regulator is missing and the current pipe is black (not tired/worn). Is it ok to go with propane as I want to caravan in winter?
The gas light is complete but lacks a mantle. What type is required?
The original awning is in excellent condition but seems to be made of cotton. Should this be waterproofed? If so with what?
I'm planning liberal captain tolley and silicone for windows/outside and wd40 and waxoil for underneath (after generous wire brushing) and for inside a wood hardener for the small damp patches.
I'm looking to treat this van like a boat! Is this an ok approach?
Completely loving my new purchase. Such a cute van, original everythings inside, practical, easy to tow. Brilliant!
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Okies...try me best........Battery if you are not going on hook up is better to be 110amp as it will last at least five days, depending on what you are using it for........Propane or butane will work any caravan if you have the right regulator (blue reg for butane,Red reg for propane) but must confirm to bs.en regs" it will tell you on the regulator lol"...as goes for the gas pipe(the black one) best advice is to change it as it may look ok, but only has a four year usage life. As goes for damp getting in, the best to do is overseal it with white to clear silicone, The rust underneath is can i be bothered thing :O).....But red lead paint is the best once rubbed down.......Any more questions please ask the samaritans lol.....No i am sure everyone will try to help...........

Thanks Sterlin!

Bit cheeky re the samaritans. It really is a great van. I am in caravan entry level heaven! It really is in much better shape than my little yacht was when I got her and she's a stunner now. So I'm hoping to work some more magic here. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
