Check the accelerator cable. Is it loose under the bonnet try adjusting the spring back to pull it tighter.

try TPS Throttle position sensor. I have never messed with one of these. But if you google throttle position sensor for your car. The first entry gives you a list of hoe to do it. Also check the other things I suggested. Let me know how you get on

It sounds like all round loss of power. If you don't get a misfire then I doubt if it is a coil pack. Try temp sender first to see if it is fuel starvation.

There are many scrap yards online. Try ebay they are always breaking cars on there. Good luck with this please let me know when its cured. I would like to know for future ref. Next time you buy Rover buy a turbo diesel lol They give no trouble my opinion they are by far better engines. Nothing goes wrong well I suppose im lucky. As I have said earlier I am mainly all diesel, So I hope ive been useful And its been a pleasure to meet you Good luck THE-STIGG I WILL ALSO TRY TO FIND SOME COILS FOR YOU

You may have had a fault that the ecu had picked up & set it to 'get home' have the codes read & reset. This may give you back the performance. With the old mems ecu you could leave the ecu disconnected for about half an hour & it would clear the codes & reset it. I think you have the bosch ecu & I dont know if it will do the same. Have a search on mg rover . org site, you may find an easy way to do this.
