Picked up a really nice 51 plate Focus Td Di with 105k on the clock. When applying pressure to the clutch pedal a diesel type of knock becomes apparent. It is not loud or anything and the gearbox operates smoothly without any noise. I was inclined to think it may be on the clutch side but now have thoughts towards perhaps play in the first motion shaft bearing.
Any thoughts appreciated. Did this model suffer any such common problems ?

Yeah one of my thoughts but I was also reading up on the inherent failures of the dual mass flywheel. Costly but if push came to shove I can do it myself anyway its just about £350 for a clutch & flywheel kit.

yes i had a thought about duel mass flywheel but i thought the tddi had a normal setup and it was the tdci with duel mass.

Many thanks for your efforts. She was first registered in early december 2001. It is a td di model. If you need engine number I will have to pop the bonnet as I'm waiting for reg doc to come back.

i am 99.9999999% sure it is a normal clutch setup to be 100% just pop into a ford dealer parts with your reg and engine number they will tell you

this may be of interest to you email them your reg number and ask if that kit will fit your car they will let you know if it is the correct one or tell you which, no obligation to buy, i have dealt with them a few times very helpfull and quick on delivery. the glow plugs from them are a very good buy they are the same as ford fit for a fraction of the price.on left hand side of screen there is a link to their shop in the search put focus in there are some good deals sometimes a lot of focus's share the same parts as the transit connect let me know how you get on
