hi i am having problems with the handbrake lever at the back of the caliper sticking on i have loosend it jus about a month ago now it as bad as ever got it soaked in wd 40 at the moment but it not keen to operate properly the car is 02 mk3 mondeo disc brakes i am not sure how the system works as no manual

on disc brake cars with handbrakes its helpfull to knock of the rust from outer edge of the disc, as sometimes this grips the pads and prvents realeasing action. sounds like it may need a new caliper or disc.

hi i just got it free yes the discs are past their sell by date so will check caliper then thanks for your prompt reply

hi stnlysmit, you need to get a second person to work handbrake whilst you look and try to decide if cable is working freely as ive replaced many cables on these cars as a rule if the caliper is at fault the little lever is on its stops but this normally means the handbrake doesnt work and as yours is sticking on id say either cable fault or pads stuck in caliper which can also be a problem let us know how you get on regards carlos
