Hi, Gary. I thought I'd just try my gas fire out before the cold weather starts in earnest and it ignites ok, but looking through the spyhole I've noticed that the flames seem yellow at all settings and I believe they should be blue, but should they be blue straight away or do you have to wait until the fire has warmed up? Needless to say I was a bit worried and so turned the fire off. Is there any thing I can do myself to cure this? Regards, John.

Wrong place to post John?

Never mind, do you mean a yellow and lazy flame similar to a candle? or orange and otherwise ok?

After a while without use the flame will draw in accumulated dust which burns orange in an otherwise blue flame, the flame should still be blue directly above the burner. this is ok as it should settle down and burn cleanly after a while, if not, further investigation will be required

Yellow flames though means the burner tubes are blocked and your not getting the correct gas/air ratio, this will require a strip down for service before using it.

Thanks, Gary. I thought I was posting in your thread but somehow it escaped! It is an orange flame and not a lazy flame, it turns up and down ok so it must be from lack of use - my wife was with me on a site when I tried it and I didn't want to gas her, 'cause there'd be no one to cook my dinners! I'll try it again when I'm by myself and leave it on a bit longer while I sit outside. Thanks again, John.

Hi Gary, can you still supply the steel inlet and burner feed pipes for SB1800 Carever Fires?
