i need windows xp disc very cheap or free, my step daughter deleted mine on pc by accident, while i was in work, plz help i live in liverpool, thanx people sean, 07774361385, i have downloaded vista from disc, but it dont work for my sky or bt hub, or any ideas are welcome, i cant download as i dont even have internet, plz hurry with solution thanx again.

From what you say it sounds like you have had XP removed from your computer, or tried to install vista over the top of XP. If this machine is a laptop very often there is a recovery partition on the hard drive. If it is a desktop you will need a copy of windows XP and it needs to be the correct version as designated on the COA (the windows sticker somewhere one your PC). You will also need a set of drivers for the computer. If it is a branded machine you may find them on the manufacturers web site, or a disc with them on may have been supplied to you.

thanx rich5578, i tried all this no luck, i would have to go on another pc to go on dell website, i cant get nothing on it at all, it is desktop, thanx anyway mate, sean.

if its a Dell PC
you can get Dell specific Cds on Ebay which dont need activation as dell have a Volume licence agrement with Microsoft

I've got either vista or xp disks. It will preload windows xp on its own but you will not recover anything you have already lost. There not legit though. If you interested give us a shout :)

how much for both discs as i have both vista pc and xp pc, and it costing me fortune to try everything at mo so i would be interested in them, if poss, thanx

Well if I was to sell you these CDs I am breaking copyright laws as I would be making money from piracy. They would be copys as I had downloaded them inthe passed. All I ask is you to pay postage and packaging costs.

Your Dell would be preloaded with a OEM version of windows, OEM windows OS can be bought from most computer shops at a half the cost of the retail version ie Amazon OEM vista home premium for around £70. Some shops will let you buy the disc as it is but others stick to the microsoft rules that state the OEM disc can only be sold with a new pc or new hardware like hard disc drive, motherboard etc. There is a trick you can try if you have two pc's one good pc with OEM version os & two ide hard drives (HDD) or two sata, take the HDD out of the good pc then connect the HDD from the corrupt pc up to the good pc, using the oem recovery disc for the good pc you should be able to preload the os into the bad pc's HDD. Then its just a matter of putting the HDD back into the faulty PC then just do a driver update for graphics, sound etc. Some recovery systems can detect a new HDD and give you the option to preload it for you. Or just wait a few days and buy the new windows 7 out on 22/10/09
The other option you maybe taking is to obtain a pirate copy, microsoft used to take the action of denying all upgrades for pirate copies they soon realised to do this caused a security risk as a pirate copy without any security updates could cause havoc on the internet so now they will do important updates on a windows os copy but alert you that its a pirate copy and offer the chance to buy a new licence. The choice is yours.
