I have a Citreon Saxo VTR, the other morning all of a sudden the car starts running really horribly, wandering idle, flat spots and stalling. We booked it into a garage and they said it could be one of a few things, before replacing any parts like coil pack etc... they gave it a good clean and found the air box was not assembled correctly and there was alot of black gunk stuff around the throttle cable. After picking the car up its briefly repeated its problems until a couple of mile into the journey where everything seem to be fine. Left over night and drove to work in it this morning and once again was really ruff. Whne going at speed eg, 50/60mph you dont really get the problem.Do you think that the cleaning has helped and maybe there was an air leak that has now been fixed but need a good blow out on the motorway or something. The garages next step is to replace the coil pack but cant say if that will fix it. Thanks Ben

Well the mechanic said the coil pack is a possible. How can you check if its the coil pack without buying one and trying it? Which spark plugs would you need for a 2003 VTR?

Take it out, have alook at the resin part, make sure there is no crack etc.I gave each spark plug and part on the coil pack a good spray with WD40 Worked a treat!
