Hi,

My escort has developed an annoying creak on the front nearside, and it sounds like its coming from quite high up - I think in the region of the top suspension mount, so I'm guessing that's what needs replacing. How can I test this for sure before replacing it?

Cheers

Ben

Btw its a 2000 X plate Mk6

hello, most sommon things for creaking are thew lower suspesnion arm bushes, they can wear a bit and creak, the bush pulls out of the arm casing and causes bad creaks. check these first, best thing to do is to get someone to bounce on the car while you look and feel for a creak. could be the top shocker mount but i think it will be the bushes

great. sometimes you can spray a bit of wd40 or something like that and it can sometimes make the noise go away for a bit, Its best to get new suspension arms if the bushes are worn and i would personally get genuine ford arms as ive fitted and had a lot of problems with no genuine cheaper arms., car pulling all over the place, bushes wearing out quickly and stuff.

It's funny you should say that actually cos I had the arm on this side replaced about 18 months ago, and it failed within 6 months so had to get it replaced again 12 months ago (for free though).

hi ben, yes thats what usually happens, most of the arms i replace are repeat failures. so fitting genuine arms where possible. i hope you find the noise on yours and get sorted.
