freelander clutch bleeding
Messages 1 to 2 of 2.
the td4 clutch has given up so after much cursing, laying on my back with a subframe on my chest etc oh... and bleeding knuckles i´ve managed to change the clutch but cant seem to get the hydraulics bled. is there any trick to this or will more perseverence see me through? my 1800 had a new clutch fitted some three months ago by a garage here and to be honest it still gruanches a bit getting it into reverse and doesnt seem to disengage the clutch until the pedal is just about fully down so i suspect bleeding is needed here too. ant ideas would be really appreciated. Many thanks , paul
You will be unable to bleed the 1.8 as there are no bleed points there and a sealed system , if gears are crunching a little in reverse then there isnt alot you can do about this....it is quite normal . Sometimes a change of hydraulic systems ( complete unit , master and slave combined ) can help the situation , also check to make sure the cluch arm isnt siezed into the gearbox and also that the bracket that the slave clips into isnt broken. With regards to the TD4...they can be bleed , look down on top of the box from under the ns bonnet area....stood at the wing and you will see a extension piece with a 8mm bleed screw in it ...bleed via there....just ensure that the master doest run out of fluid...the tops do come off although a little difficult to get fluid back into.
