before removing the head, remove the plugs and spin engine over with them out, observe if any water is ejected from the plug holes. Then using a compression tester check the compression in each cyl, this should determine whether the HG is blown. If compresson is good no need to remove the head. let us know Al
just noticed you said Diesel ! dont try to do a compression test! that applies to petrol engines. Al
