I am looking for help and advise please, about my P reg Citroen Xantia 1.9TD estate car. Earlier this year, while away from home, I put my foot on the clutch pedal, and with a loud 'bang' the clutch went altogether on the car. On investigation, we found that the clutch cable had come away from the plastic 'fitting' that joins it to the foot pedal. I put it back together again, and all was well for a couple of months. Then it did the same thing again. This time I bought a new plastic fitting and metal clip, put it back together again, and all was ok for another month or two, until off it came again. My next step was to buy another new clip assembly and new clutch cable too. i had these fitted, and again, after a while of being ok, it parted company with a bang. Since then the car has sat in our yard. i really like the old girl, she is a fabulous workhorse, and i miss driving her. Can anyone offer any help or advise please on how i can sort the problem out? Maybe I am doing something wrong. With sinvcere thanks,

John

how many miles has it done has it been used for towing heavy trailors has it been used for driving regulary in heavy traffic if any of these are applicable including high miles 100k it propably needs a new clutch as citroen clutch springs wear away before the friction plate causing heavy action and thus breaking the cable connections. and being from the pilling farming community i guess towing it will have done, ime not a million miles from you, fleetwood area
