Ford radio 6000.

I have just installed this radio in a Nissan, every thing o/k until i tries to enter code, when i press button one for the first number there is no response, buttons 2-3-and 4 ok can enter code is it a fault with the radio or is it something im not doing right, any suggestions, regards Grahay.
