Vauxhall Astra Bonnet

Ive got a 2003 astra and im having trouble opening the bonnet. its been fine until the other day. When i pull the lever inside the car to pop the bonnet the handle feels very loose and makes a clicking noise but the bonnet wont open? Any ideas on how I can open it to see what the problem is? Thanks
