Miele W980 washing machine warning light and alarm Check inlet

Please can anyone tell me what it means when my miele W980 novotronic gets most of the way through the cycle then the alarm will sound and warning light labelled 'check inlet' flashes. This only happens on the 'minimum iron programme' and not, so far,on any of the other programmes.
