My Rover 214 si from 98 just died on the way home from work.
.Driving along at 60mph at about 3000rpm,the motor just stopped and the car coasted to a halt. The head lights, hazzard warning an horn all worked but nothing else, which shows that the battery was not dead. All the dash lights for handbrake, ignition were all dead. After checking fuses and leads, everything came back but the car drove about a hundred yards and died again.Anyone out there got any ideas.

Looks like you need to investigate the ignition circuit. Lights etc. that worked are on a seperate fuse. Poss main engine relay, situated in the engine compartment fusebox. Could be a fuseable link from the battery connector to the loom. Check for ign. feed at the ign. switch & work back. If you have a live feed at the ign. switch & through the switch with it on then check earths behind the headlamps on the inner flitchs both sides. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply. When I turn on the ignition there is no sign of life in the instrument panel. All the fuses seem to look ok,but I will change them anyway. There is power in the battery and the lights are working ok.
As I live in Denmark there are no rover dealers to get parts.Any suggestions in GB.

I changed the engine relay as you suggested but tht did not help.Cleaned all connections then checked the fuses.I found two fuses popped 25 and30 amp so I will get some replacements and see what happens. Thanks for your help so far.
