I have a Peugeot 4007 GT which I bought new in April 2008. It has covered 27,000 miles and occasionally when accelerating in the higher gears the clutch will slip lifting the revs by 200-300 before catching drive up again, very much like a torque converter in an automatic. I understand this vehicle has a dual mass flywheel which I am told does allow a cushioning effect in the driveline and I think Nissan have had problems with this on their Nirvana model. I have the vehicle booked into the local Peugeot in 2 weeks for them to look at the problem but to me the effect seems to be from contamination of oil or something on the clutch plate. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Hi
Thanks for responding to me regarding clutch slip on my 4007 Peugeot. i took it down to the agents they took it for a road test then stopped at the side of the road, put it in top gear with the handbrake on, plenty of revs and made the clutch slip until it was hot. it obviously burnt some sort of contamination off the clutch plate as it does not slip now. I have decided to run it for another month and see if it comes back, it still has another 32,000 miles or 17 months left on the warranty so we will see how we go and the garage are aware of it.

Thanks again

Regards

Tony Clayton

hi this is classed as a wear part by peugeot and will not be covered after the 2 year period, regardless if you have brought this to the attention of your dealer to burn off the contamination is not the answer they have to find out how it got their in the first place after 27.000 miles covered keep your eye on it regards rgd

Hi
Thanks for that I am only going to run it for another month to see how quickly the slip comes back and then I will take it in. Something is obviously contaminating the clutch plate, maybe an oil seal leaking or something.

Tony

hi tony have checked into this a bit more it would appear that the 2 year doesnt come into this as it is classed as a wear part clutch.pressure plates andcentre bearings are only covered up to 20.000 miles this includes all components in the clutch regards rgd

Hi

Thanks for that, i reported it initially before the car had done 15,000 miles, basically I don,t think Peugeot have got a clue what to do about the problem i am sure my car is not the only one with this fault. i would be interested to know if the transmission is actually the same as in the Mitsubishi Outlander on which the 4007 is based and if so is it not up to handling the torque of the 2.2 HDI engine as on the Mitsubishi the only engines offered were a 2.4 petrol or the VW 1.9 TDI engine neither of which had anything like the torque of the Peugeot engine and i wonder if the clutch is just not up to the job.

Regards

Tony
