I have a 2001 model citroen berlingo van 1.9 diesel and when i am driving on the motoway doing from 60 to 70, the van starts slowing down, losing power to as low as 40 with thick black smoke coming out from the exaust. Please help because i have taken it to a garage and was told it needed full service which i did, but the problem is still there

it is possible that the electronic gas recirclulation valve is sticking or not opperating perhaps having a diagnostic test would help

it will probably be linked to the air doseur unit.its the vacuum operated butterfly valve at the front.take off the intake pipe and check the flap for being under spring tension and free movement
