Hi guys,
i was parked on a pavement (all 4 wheels) however the pavement is so large there is still sufficiant space for pedestrians to walk by.

Well when i returned to the car i noticed a parking ticket on my car for having 'one or more wheel on a pavement'. Three other cars also had this ticket however all the other cars (20 plus) that were parked on the pavement never had this ticket.

I wrote to them and appealed and said it's not right that i had to pay and 2 other cars however all the other cars do not have to pay this ticket.

i wrote to them and they said 'unfortunatly you are not allowed to park there.the council policy on footway stated when a vehicle is observe parked on a footway that is next to single yellow line, double yellow lines, school keep clear markings, white or yellow zigag markings-a pentalty charge noticed will be issued as these restrictions have been installed for improving road safety'.

however on the ticket they issued to me the reason for issue'ing a ticket was because i had 'one or more wheel on the pavement.'

so where do i stand?

they have sent me pictures of hard evidence that i was parked next to white zig zag lines thou! any ideas

It is an offence to park on the pavement, so you don't really have a defence. if I were you, I would pay it before they increase the fine.

tjp Sorry to go against you, but its not an offence to park on the footpath providing yo are not causeing an obstruction. However it is an offence to drive on the pavement even one wheel on the curb unless markings or advised otherwise.
However Ash you cannot park next to lines as they have stated. Even disabled badge holders cannot park on white zig zag lines or next to them.
You are in the wrong so should bite the bullet. They have kinder issued the ticket inapproapriatly but unfortunatly these do not go to court any more as I found out to my expense. once it goes to a judication and the system is a shame, they Will win. If it was a Court matter it could go either way depending on your solicitor and Judge.

mine was I had a parking perment under my sun visor however they where kangoing up the street and put the waste next to my car whick was also covering my tyres up to the rim on drivers sied and I COULD ONLY ACCESS car via boot. (made front page of lcal rag) My permit must have been dislodged by these works and cost me in excess of £220. I was all ready for court when found out the system had changed. It was then down to me to take them to court but ofcourse I could not afford it. Now I never park in a permit park area. I park round dark corners, on the path (permits only cover marked bays) or leave car in middle of road. But never causing an obstruction.

bas.

it seems like you didnt have much luck then my friend.
The parking/traffic wardens dont have any brain cell's. Half of them cant form a sentence in which makes sense.

i think its unfair that i have to pay as there was no signs up to say this and i never knew that you couldnt park on a pavement next to white zig zag lines, i just thought u couldnt park on the white lines.

It's ashame that mr .josworth warden cannot provide the correct reason for issuing me a ticket ay?
can you offer to pay a minimal fee each month like monthly instalments?

apparantly according to the net when you appeal against a parking ticket the majority of people dont get response's and therefore the ticket is cancelled but i am not sure how true this is

suggest you read up the highway code, especially the section about road markings.

sorry but though they may have not stated the exact reason on the ticket, the photo will show that an offence has occured and a fine due.
Incidedtally the fine for the later may be even more, so recon you going to have to pay up one way or another.

Dont think parking fines can be paid in instalments, the reveerce of the ticket will advise how payments should be done. You may be able to put it on your flexible friend and then pay that off bit by bit.

if you dont pay you end up with baliff costs or the *!#%!@ takeing your car. When I got a ticket once I had only had the car a week. The person I bought it of 1 month later found some big ugly guy walking into their kitchen demanding for the car or cash. They had receipt Id given them as proof of sale fortunatly. I won that appeal.

Right ash the rules are, yes you can park on a pavement as long as you leave a big enough gap for a double buggy to get by.

But as you say you are parked on a pavement by zig zags, it is an obstuction towards other drivers who can not see the pedestrians waitin to cross the road. If you had parked on the zig zags themselves then you would of got 3 points on your licence as well as a £60 fine plua a parking ticket.

Yes traffic wardens are mainly a bunch of tossers, i have to deal with them everyday in my job when delivering parcels, but i know the rules on parking as in my job yes i can stop on single n double yellow lines as long as i am delivering, yet i still get traffic wardens ticketing me cos they got nothing better to do and have to get thier figures up.... Although i know my company will fight and win.

Pay the fine and learn from your mistakes mate and no you got to pay the whole lot though if you read the back of the ticket properly it will say if you will struggle to pay it then contact them
