Just when my Merlin is running nicely I suddenly have a new red light on the dash! It is in the centre of the dash display, just below the temperature guage; the red light showing a thermometer, the same as the small icon to the side of the temperature guage, but what puzzles me is the fact that the temp guage is reading normal, and the engine runs okay and the radiator hoses feel the same temp as normal. The radiator fan isn't cutting in, and nothing seems to be overheating, so I am wondering if it is just a fault but if anyone has sensible suggestions I would welcome them.

Hi Norris. The light is described in the owner's handbook as "Warning Light - High Coolant Temperature". I dont have a diesel wiring diagram but perhaps there is a seperate sensor somewhere for this light and the sensor or wiring to it is faulty. HTH, :)

Hi Steve, I was having a look at the van earlier and I started the engine from cold and that light came on straight away so I think the sender is faulty. The sender is just below the temperature guage sensor which is located in the water pipe which leaves the head at the gearbox side of the engine, I will disconnect the wire for the time being and swap the sensor tomorrow. Cheers.
