Hi,
Water coming from under the dash usually indicates that the 'Scuttle panel' is corroded through, this is the panel directly under the windscreen. A new panel is readily available on E-bay for £50. But fitting it involves removing the windscreen, cutting out the old panel then welding in the new, plus the respray/refitting the screen, quite an expensive job. Ray

Malc,

Welcome to the forum. Water ingress from behind the dash can unfortunately be indicative of the scuttle panel (the one at the base of the windscreen) being rusted through. The windscreen rubber is designed to channel the water down to two drain holes in the scuttle (one each side under the rubber) which rust through over time. You can view these buy getting a torch and looking up under the scuttle panel from inside the engine bay (removing the spare wheel of the passenger side of course!). You may need a small mirrot to see the driver's side one properly. A cure is difficult depening on the severity of the rust problem, but once sorted it is a good ideal to seal the windscreen to the rubber. There is an article on this in the "How To" section of the jktowers website here: http://www.jktowers.fsnet.co.uk/motorhome/

A full scuttle replacment with painting costs about £800 (the panel is only £50 mail order from Beevers but there is a lot of fitting etc involved). Regards, Steve

My van also tends to leak at the same place. I sealed the windscreen etc but it still came in if the rain was heavy which suggests my scuttle is corroded however I found that if I blow out the drain hoses one each side under the bonnet it stops the leak. for a few months until they block again. Hope this helps

Steve,
That's ok, I probably got the info from your website anyway.
I don't have a leak (yet !) but my scuttle is corroded and patched up,
I have a new scuttle panel and new wheelarch panels, these are the only panels not already replaced. It's just the cost of getting it done (i know my limitations) I'll get it done 'one day'. Ray
