I loved my laptop dearly, but a while ago it died a horrid death. It used to boot up a while ago, and I changed the hard drive and this has still not solved the problem, now she is no more, there is no life left in the old girl.

It is a Phillips X40, anyone have any ideas? Or think they may be able to fix her?

hi, will need to know what was happening to it before you changed the hardrive, what windows you have installed, and who replaced the harddrive and re-installed windows, anything else you can think of would be handy for others to help you with as well.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply Les, I was running Windows XP when it started having compatability conflicts, I sent it to Currys Tech Guys who changed the Hard Drive, it came home, still not working properly, when it returned the second time, it booted up 3 or 4 times, then died.

I would be interested as to why your hard drive was replaced, they should have sent you a report explaining the faults they found, unless they didn`t do a proper bench test. If the repair was done recently, I would get back on to them or take it to your local pc shop, not a high street store, unless it is under a warranty. If the battery in the bios was on its way out, a good sign would be the date and time changing when you boot up, as it would restore to the date of manufacture. Hope it is sorted soon, also worth remembering, is if it makes a beeping noise when it does start up and if so, how many, that may help your techie guys.
