i was reading a mag at my nans and i came across an ad for a TV show due to air next thursday, i was a bit disgusted actually and not sure i would want to watch the show due to its nature!! a lady has been waiting for her massive bitch to give birth so she can make alot of money, in the area she lives the number one dog to have is a staffy bull, there were a few quotes from the show a man wanted one for protection as he often ends up arguing with people in the street and if he had a dog they would walk on!! and a mother wanted one for her daughter again for protection!! the show is called "devil dogs!" WTF i am sick to my core, thease dogs are amazing family pets and should not just be for "protection" but what gets me is that the violent crime in the area in question is very high and as we are well aware, kn*b heads with large and aggresivly reared dogs (no matter what the breed) will only end up with a tragic end, and then one of the most lovly dogs on the dangerous dogs list!!! thanks to the media for all there scare mongering!! complete bas*ards!!

ooohhh Bones doesn't it get you mad. Devil dogs my ar*e. My Bruno was the sweetest natured dog ever. So a teenager stabs someone dead, are all teenagers tarred with the same brush NO. But a Staffie attacks through being in the wrong hands and all are classed as evil. Are they going to ban all teenagers because some of them are bad, No but they will ban a breed of dog which is one of the soppiest breeds in the right environment, just because a few idiots use them as a shield and then they attack. The world has gone mad. It sounds like just another way for the media to get these wonderful dogs banned.

i know what you mean, i get sick of the media when i child or adult has been attacked by any dog the picture they show is always that of a staffy, peoples asumptions that the owners of these dogs are shaven headed, tatooed thugs are wrong my husband is two of the above(not the thug)but we both are responsible breeders and owners of these wonderful dogs, the latest addition to our family as this is what they are part of our family.. was bred by us and will be loved by us, however i am under no illusions as any dog can turn nasty so i wouldnt leave my grandson alone with any dog its just common sense!

mad isn't it btr, its like a few months ago there was a show called, "my dog my weapon" or something similar, it was all about poeple using there dogs for "protection" and encouraging dog fightin, and a man on there was wanting to breed his dog and keep a pup just for that reason, he didn't ever let his dog off incase it killed somethiing or someone, its no way for a dog to live whatever the breed!! i can think of a few things that need to be banned, but all thease so called dangerous dogs,,, NO, we need a dog lisence back with an exam to pass aswell that would stop a large majority getting a dog to ruin iin the first place, or breed for monitary gain alone!! but then how would our limited police resources cope with policing that!! god something has to be done (P.S i'm not against people who breed!!!! i dont want to start a row!!! don't make me bring a fence or wall!!)

it never ends. the media have so much blood on thier hands. i read an article this morning about the science advisor who stated that cannabis and exstacy are less harmfull than tobbacco and alchohol, who has been sacked for saying what has been common knowledge in the science and law enforcement community for ever.
the article states that it is the fault of media scare mongering that inhibits the government from making common sense policies in relation to drugs and alcohol.
in k9 magazines daily digest ryan omeara correlates the dangerous dogs act legislation with the same stupidity as the current drug law( in a podcast that i unfortunately cant listen to as my dial up is too slow!).
the media need linning up and shooting and the government need to stop worrying about what is a popular vote pulling desision and what is common sense.one last thing though. thats exactly why i wanted to leave feltham to have my litters as although some lovely people live there. the large majority are chavvy thugs who i would never want to see owning an american bulldog!

hi ali, agree agree, common sense is a large part of owning any pet! i have ATM a rottie and can trust her with my 2 year old, but i always have an eye on them both, but i wouldn't do what a bloke did in the news last year, he left his baby in a room with a dog (cant remember the breed) closed all the doors and left a camera running just to proove how soft the dog was, and guess what, the dog turned on the child and chewed its face off!!! who was to blame, not the dog im afraid, but it was the dog that got destroyed not the dumb ass owner for doing such a stupid thing!!

When i was young it was Alsations , then Dobbies , then Rotties , then Staffies , now anything big and butch basically !!!! i for one def think the media have made it loads worse ( without all the attention half of these idiots wouldn't even know the breads even existed );

hey hey clair, erm i love that about the guy thats been fired for tellin the truth, im gonna get on a very high horse now!!! alcohol kills more peopl a year than any A-CLASS drug, no one on record has died through a direct result of smoking canabis (fact) in amsterdam (where canabis is tolerated) crime is serverly less than in this country where we persicute those who want to chill, i say crimminalise the real addictive drug (alcohol) and start tolerating canabis, also the government could benifit from taxin canbais!! im sur the large majority of stoners would gladly pay an extra £5 on top of what they usually spend if it meant they could go to a shop and not have to go round to some dirty drug dealers house to buy it then sneak off into the night,,,, any way, the media sux ass, this show is gonna be a hard one to watch!!

yeah too true bones, then they could guaruntee a good smoke without the crap thats mixed in. no one has died from taking canabis but sadly people have died from the stuff thats mixed with it in order for the dealers to make an even heftier profit. a few years ago someone died in london due to the fact that dealers were spinning the grass to get the crystal off and then covering it with glass frosting!

I totaly agree with you Bones,it's so unfair-staffies make fantastic family pets,very people orientated,especially good with kids- and with a fantastic sense of humour so there'll never be a dull moment in the house.Personally i have over 12 years experience with owning staffies and it makes me so angry the reputation they get,it's undeserved,what people don't realise is that any dog can be aggressive if encouraged to be so and all dogs need to be socialised from an early age as well as given the proper training that is consitstent throughout their lives.It's a sad fact that it's the low life types of people that give the breed their undeserved reputation,they encourage their dogs to be aggressive and look on them as protection,they don't care for their dogs or take any responsability for the damage they do to the breeds reputation.
Brought up in the right environment within a stable loving home and given proper training/socialisation the staffy is a joy to have as a family member.Hopefully there are enough open minded and sensible people out there who know how it realy is!
To those small minded people out there..It's not the "breed",it's the "deed" that should be judged! Thanks for reading.

yes clair i remember that (its called being glassed) my friend got offered some of that and told that it had been glassed, luckily he said no cuz he aint stupid!! the thing is if the government "governed" canabis properly they would actually be doing th eyouth of toady a favour, they say that its just the start, however, i have never touched any other filthy drug, dealers who push kids into other drugs are the reason for such scare mongering, the leagalisation of it would mean less dealers, therfore les people taking other harder and more dangerous drugs, cant they see that!! and there isn't actually much money in dealing weed, after spending time and money trying to grow many plants the cost for the growth is about the same they make when its been sold!! like u say if its governed it can be made cleaner and purer!! free country my arse!!

Saw the add in the magazine. Yet again the media will demonize a breed, encourage even more idiots to want to own them and breed them for a quick buck and when it all goes belly-up they'll make a killing with the stories that follow. At the same time they'll covieniently forget any roll they had in its making. It's why I barely watch BBC any more as they seem more involved than most.
