Why spoil it for them? why not let them believe in santa until they work it out for themselves because its truelly magical time and when its gone its gone, u cant get that time back.Thats all the fun believing in father christmas. My kids are older now ,the youngest is 11 and she worked it out about 2 years ago and now its just not the same. Id give anything for them days back!!!

Ye, it's always exciting getting into your pj's and jumping into bed the night before hoping Santa will come. Then diving out of bed at stupid o clock in the morning and creeping to the tree to see if he has been. Then creeping to your parents room and saying that there are loads of presents, so parents have to get out of bed. When you know that your parents are behind it all, you stay in bed, don't bother getting up till later. Where's the fun gone?

I agree with the others, absolutely DO NOT spoil her dreams, she will find out soon enough. I would guess that at nine years old she is probably having doubts, but let her find out for herself, it will happen soon enough. My little granddaughter is now two years old and I can't wait to see her face on Christmas morning, my own kids are grown up but Christmas is still special, just hope it will be more magical this year with the little one and us playing Santa!!!!

My granddaughters friend still believes in father christmas and she is nearly 12. They usually find out from friends.

yes they find out from friends or siblings. i used to like the flour footprints on the hall staircarpet looking like snow and creeping downstairs at 5am to see if santas been and then waking up the parents who would tell you to go back to sleep as its too early to get up!!!

My son was 10 last christmas and still was into the father xmas belief or was he...????I sometimes wonder with kids if deep down as they get older they start to wonder about the myth of santa but why take the risk until you are 100% sure or you might end up with no presents. My son waited til after xmas to tell me he knew it was me. He is 11 now and secondary school soon dashes the childhood fantasies so let them believe as long as you can. Any kids reading this SANTA DOES EXIST, parents could never afford so many wonderful gifts.

hiour two worked it out, the youngest first (older one is special needs), we told her that if she spoilt it for her sister she wouldnt get any presents at all. We just made the pressies a bit more usefull the skimpy u/wear that mum and dad said they didnt approve of ! Gloves Brolly school or colledge items etc the sort of prezzie they woodn't want under the tree with a big tag saying "love and huggs Mum & Dad x x " but items they still want to have. they now 18 and 16 this year and they have now given us a joint list that includes: computer programs (educational one for musical composition) printer, and inks, external hard drives and disc drives, Evening dresses and acessorys etc oh for the days when it was a tangerine, banana, story book, few sweets a coloring book and colored pancils ! and a soft toy. at least we dont have to have the carrot, 2nd hand mince pie and glass of sherry to digest before we can go to bed. My youngest is now 8 and she's half and half as to whether santa is real. I think listening to her friends puts doubts in her mind. I like to keep it going for as long as possible with my kids,to keep christmas magical and exciting, as my three sons are now 19, 16,and 12 and havn't believed for a number of years, its taken some of the sparkle out of christmas!!! DONT tell her keep it going for as long as you can. When my eldest son was younger I overheard him and his friend discussing santa and how they didn't belive he was real, and I heard my son say 'well you've got to pretend for your parents sake havn't you' I felt like crying! I even talked my brother into dressing as santa one year, complete with stuffed bin bag over his shoulder,to walk up and down the street so that I could tell the kids to peep out of the window and catch a glimpse of santa doing his rounds! Kids thought it was amazing and all rushed off to bed really excited. My bro wasn't too happy though when neighbours started coming out of their houses to see!!!lol He felt a right prat!
