tyron is 17 months i got him when he was 10 months he is a fantastic dog yet i have a problem when out with him
if its just us he is fine yet if he sees another dog hes gone and starts trying to mate them weather a boy or girl , he won't come back when called he just totally ignors me
i really don;t know what to do other than keep him on his lead and thats not really fair as hes a big dog and need to have a run

on another note the other day he opened the back door went out for a wee then came back in closed the door and got in his bed , so surly if he inteligent enough to do that why am i finding it hard to train him

Training classes are very good for socialising and training. Sounds like he could do with learning respect.

that to me would be a major problem, imagin wantinng to mate all the time and being told no no no, i think eventually i would ignor the person saying no!! would you? im sure it will help to get him done, but theres nothing stopping going to some classes, he will begin to respect u when he has full concentration and not just trying to copulate all the time!! must be frustrating for both of you

My Lab is the same, although she doesnt try to mate she just heads straight for them because she wants to play and thinks all dogs want to be her friend.

Some do snap and growl at her because she's so boisterous and jumps all over them. I try to make her sit whenever a dog is obviously going to come past us and praise her when she stays still. Off the lead, I'm still ptractising with 'stay' or 'sit' and its 50/50 now...I think if she likes the dog really REALLY likes the dog she'll just ignore me!

She is getting better with persistent training, but still sometimes wont stay or sit. Just try to make sure if he does something good you give him lots of praise and try to be patient and persistent.

Not sure how it will affect boys as Berry has been spayed and if anything, she's worse for jumping up people and other dogs!

Mine is humping everything at the moment and he HAS been done!! Mind you, we have a bitch in season in the house too and its quite literally driving him mad with desire. I actually have 2 castrated males and they still try to mate her/each other - we are having a lot of sexually fustrated doggy fights at the moment!! lol

Berry went for (not in a nasty way!) all 5 dogs we encountered this morning. So much for the training! Must have been a fluke the other day!

She then came home and promptly threw up a lead and some pineapple I gave her last night on the kitchen mat (couldnt have done that outside of course).

Guess it isnt just my rats who cant have the pineapple out of the fruit salads I buy!

random,, the other day lacey decided to follow the scent of a lad that i couldn't even see i had to run for ages to catch her no amount if calling her back helped, but at least i can trust her not to eat a person or dog, most people who she harrases and there dogs think it best she is hypo and friendly rather than hypo and aggressive!! i agree of corse but still wish she would listen when i call her, i look a right idiot trying to catch her as she runs around in circles as other dogs look at her like she is mad!!*!#%!@

ditto its so embarassing! The 2 people stood chatting while there 2 dogs politely sat by their feet gave me 'the look' as incoming Berry charged directly for their teeny dogs!

When I finally got there I just said 'well I guess the answer to 'is she trained yet' is still not then!' Luckily I kinda know those people and they dont really mind as they know she's young and full of beans but still!

And the other man out and about thought I was calling her 'Barry.' I blame my Stoke accent haha.

lol, sounds just like lacey, i'v given up letting her off lead if i see someone cuz she just goes to play, and yes like berry is full of beans! i do know a lady with 2 westies who loves lacey playing with her dogs and we often walk together with all dogs off lead, its good when other people enjoy hypo dogs running there dogs ragged!!
