I need advice on my front suspension on my fiesta.
I got the springs replaced back in Feb last year, by Kwik-Fit, ever since it was creaking at low speeds. (When i asked about it, once they done it, i got told it was just needing time to bed in)
I put it into another garage yesterday to put in a new clutch and i asked them if they could do anything with the creak. They told me that the spings hadn't been set right and it meant that there wasn't enough of the bolt showing for the nut. They said that i shound have at least an inch of thread showing above the nut (the bit hidden under the black caps in the engine) and that my mines was nowhere near the top of the bolt and that it was only being held on by a couple of threads. They tightened one of the bolts and the creek's stopped for now. They gave me the car back and told me to take it back to the garage that done it and get them to drop the struts, turn the springs to where they should be sitting and that should fix it. They were suprised that it was done by a garage.
I took the car back to the Kwik-fit today, and they said there was nothing wrong with the springs and the height of the bolt and the fiesta was like that because it has 2 nuts to hold it in place.

Any ideas who's in the right with this one?

I've added a pic to help explain what part i'm meaning.

Thats what you get when you take it to kwik fit. Im forever hearing about bad work they have done and have myself to put right the wrongs they have done on many occassions. Even simple stuff like exhausts.Coil springs certainly shouldnt creak when done, If they do its clearly there is a problem and you should take it straight back and this non sense of they need bedding in, is a load of rubbish. its just a way to get rid of you .You have taken a picture of the top, as far as i know i dont think there should be much thread showing , its the nut underneath the top metal mount thats important , i.e make sure its tight. I would take it to a garage you can trust and know what they are doing in the future.,
