I've bought a car which I plan to sell on asap but the road tax has expired. I will not be driving it on the road so do I need to buy tax or not?
If I don't need to buy tax do I need to notify the DVLA or complete a SORN?

Also can I tax a vehicle using a blank section 10 of the V5 or would I need to fill in my details.

If the vehicle cannot be touched by a member of public without going through a gate or over a fence it does not need tax. When you sell the car you are responsable for the car till dvla receive new owners details. Their for you should not release vehicle till they tax it. Also the vehicle should be suitably immobilished. Follow these and your as safe as houses.
Their are loads of loop holes you can try your luck with.

If it is currently Sorn, you do not need to Sorn it. If it is not Sorn you will need to.

You can tax a vehicle providing you have the green slip or lock book or dealer parts. You need relevant insurance and current mot All need to be valid on the day of taxing. Short policies sometimes exclude taxing of vehicle. You will need to fill in a form if you do not have the tax renewal paperwork.

one thing you have to think about is how when you try to sell it is how can the buyers test drive it. Well worth gettin 6 months tax on it and say to the buyer they can have the tax for an extra £100 or you can take it and get a refund if they dont want the tax, but you will sell your car quicker with tax on it.

yep tax it. ive only ever bought 3 cars without tax. 2 went straight in the yard the other I drove around in and sold but that was before npr ect was about
