hi can anyone help me please my handbrake light is stuck on most of the time, when u release the handbrake the light dims but is still on, my mate looked at the switch for me and that was ok and i have cleaned the plug up what goes into the brake fluid but its still doing it. anyone any ideas please?

the handbrake light is a dual function lamp

it not only tells you the h/brake is on, but also it is a warning light for low brake fluid.

to test, remove both wires from the brake fluid reservoir, (make sure they cant touch anything) switch on the ign. H/brake light should be lit up, release h/brake light should go out, if not then it is not he fluid level sensor is not at fault. turn off, and remove the plastic trim around the h/brake lever, and the switch is under there, check this for debris etc
Turn on the ign and press the switch in and out observing what the light does etc.

Hi Al, what actually happened from the start was this, a mate fitted me a new rear caliper (passenger side) and a couple of weeks after it fell off and wripped all the sensor and handbrake cable off, this obviously made the hanbrake and ABS light come on. Got that sorted and i put another sensor on what i got from a scrapyard and the 2 lights went out straight away. It was fine for a week or so but now the lights are back on

Just an update, i looked in the handbook and it says when the abs and the handbrake light are on at the same time its not actually the handbrake light, its stating its a warning light. Also yesterday i was driving around and they both went out at the same time, did a few trips driving around stopping and starting the engine but they both eventually came back on at the same time. Its really weird
