I've got a 10 y/o cat, took her in about 6 months ago when her previous owner died (actually found her from this site). Since we have had her we have noticed she has odd little cuts, which we figured were just from when shes scratched too hard or something. However, lately we have noticed that two cuts are quite big- well more like a collection of quite a few little cuts, on the back of her head, and at the base of her tail. I've googled, and my friend suggested it might be ringworm, however she is a house cat and I was told always has been, and me + bf have no sign of it or anything, so I'm not sure that it is ringworm. Anyone else got oldish cats that have had this? We also noticed today that she has lost a tooth at the front of her mouth- it doesn't look sore, so we don't know how long its been gone, could have been since before we got her, but since this is the first cat I have owned since I was about 2, I thought some second opinions might be good. I plan to take her for a checkup at the vets, but I can't until I start work which will be in the next couple of weeks.

Ringworm is a fungus not a worm i breed persians and they can be prone to it,I would recommend you get some canestan and rub this into it you can buy this from the chemist or the super markets,Also have you checked her ears she could have ear mites this would also do this you could get some ear mite drops from the pet shop and put them in,Also does she have a flea i noticed my bsh girl had this a few weeks ago so i flead her and it went,It would not hurt to treat her for all 3 of the things i have mentioned if this don't start to clear up in a week then pop her to your vet,It does not sound serious so the above i have mentioned should do the trick,Hope this helps hun.

I know its a fungus :), my niece got it once, which is why i'm not sure it is that cuz she doesn't have the little red ring shaped thingies. But its hard to tell under all the fur. There are no sign of mites or fleas either, I've bathed her to check before because when my parents dog got fleas some would come to the top when she was washed, but none came up.

I could not find a flea on my bsh but then one day i found just the one on her so it must of been that,In that case then if all these possabilities you have ruled out i would take her to the vet hun.
