Do you cut your own piggies nails or do you take yours to vets/pet shop to be trimmed? My local pet shop charges £5.

Hi ,
when trimming a pigs nails or any animal for that matter if they have white toes its easy , if you look carefully you can see the pink of the wick, cut in front. If on the other hand they have black nails look at them from the side you will note that they are wide at the top and then taper and narrow a bit like a parrots beak cut where the nail starts to taper, if you apply a little pressure and the pig complains stop you are to near the wick !
In the event of that little accident, don't worry a bit of blood looks like a leg full. Buy a product called Trimmex it is a coagulant powder just dip the nail in the powder and the blood stops almost immediately (ideal if you snip yourself a lot too, as a dog groomer i tend to spend a few mins with at least one digit in the pot)!
