yes i aggree with the coments i lost my dach monty and i have his ashes still in the house as he hated the cold and 4yrs on they are still in my out house where he slept i just cant bring myself to bury him in the garden,i always said no more pets as it's to heart breaking but as several people have said its lonley in the house without a little life running up to greet you when you come home but each to their own i say as every one has different ways of grieving so you must do what
YOU feel is right for you i felt the time was right now for another pup and the result is we have red opposite but make sure you grieve properly don't jump with your emotions, ive done that before and it was a big mistake as i wasnt ready to have a new pup and ended up having to find a new home for the pup the family rushed out to get to cheer me up,not like now i am ready to have a pup and we made the best choice ever with this boy ive got,so i wish you all the best and r.i.p. to marley, my heart goes out to you and all your family.

Thanks Josephine. We buried his ashes in the garden and planted a beautiful yellow rose bush in the same place to remind us of him. It was sad but not as bad as I thought as we've been grieving all week and we needed to say goodbye. I loved him so much in such a short time but now I must move on. We've have chats about it and the kids would like to get another dog and hubby really wants to as well. We've started looking already mainly as its a good distraction from the sadness.

Hopefully we'll find a nice dog soon but we are not rushing into it.

Sorry to hear of your loss Stu and Jay. Believe me, its not a nice feeling but it will get better. Already I feel beter and its only 12 days since. Time is a great healer it is so true. We will never forget Marley and have a picture now in a frame in our living room. Whether you get another dog or not the main thing is to remember the wonderful dog you had and be happy for the great memories they gave you. xx

So very sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our first dog after 13, and took on a rescue girl after one month. Sadly we only had her for 3 years and her death was very sudden. In our terrible grief we rushed out and took on another rescue, but he was aggressive with our son. In our grief we just couldn't cope with this, he had to go back to the rescue, and I feel we hadn't given ourselves time to grieve. Now, some 4 months since we lost our girl, we have taken on another rescue boy, and it's working really well.

I'd say, it's up to each indiviual, but do give yourself time to grieve.

Thank you Holly and to everyone who has advised me. I feel so much better now, it's almost 2 weeks and I'm at a point where I miss him still but it doesn't hurt so much now. Now its time to remember all the things that made me laugh and smile. We're currently looking for the right dog for our family and will hopefully find one when the time is right.
