bought a dog kennel and run 2 weeks ago for martha to use in winter for the bad weather as she hates to be indoors and spends most off her time in the garden(apart from our 2 daly walks) making it muddy and wet along with herself so thought buy outdoor pen put heater in kennel bit put her in it she whined and whined thought lets persevere for a few days but she hates it and stands and whines and howels so i let her out in the garden as usual and she went to the pen did her buisiness inside and walked out lol shes a funny one so that was a waste of money

*!#%!@ typical that, spend lots of money to buy them nice things and they never want to know!
Just a thought, why don't you leave the door open on it, put some of her favourite toys or bed in there, and let her in the garden as normal, and let her decide when she wants to go over and explore it without being locked in. You could also pop her in it for her dinner, so she gets used to being in there and it will make her positive if she has some yummy food in there.

*!#%!@ little madam! I love shar peis, wanted one but my parents said they're ugly and wouldn't let me :( ended up with a labrador, only breed they'd allow haha. 1 day though, i will have 1 :) they're gorgeous.
Hmm, i think the only thing is to persevere with her, like i said, put her bed in and fav toys, feed her in it, maybe you can sit in it for 10 mins with her, see if the other dogs will go in, if she sees them in it, she might come round. Don't know what else to suggest. I suppose it takes w hile for them to take to new things.

haha *!#%!@ aww aint she a little terror lol :P that looks really nice too bet that wernt cheap! i want to get one of them in the future when i get a dogiie woggie lol :P

How very incredibly rude of her! lol It's not even like its a little kennel and run must have cost you an arm and a leg! lolThat is very funny I know I shouldn't laugh but I can imagine her huffin and walking away after pooing in it! We had a boxer once who would only use kennel to wee in! lol

i actually bought it 2nd hand it did cost £650 new though think i may have to sell it on as im not having it a a dog litter tray lol

i know and do you know what she can suffer lol tht means soon as she whines and scratches the door i will let her in lol was thinking about getting a dog flap but think id get fed up with washing the floors time and time again

no its not made of tanalised timber wouldnt have bought it if it was due to the fact dogs chew the kennel part is raised off the floor but is not insulated the kennel as a sliding door to shut and seperat from the run for warmth

God i'd love it too - with 4 dogs running crap through my house in this weather, its doin my head in!! lol
Arent shar pei's notorious for being a bit diva-ish? lol LOVE her reaction to it though, very subtle!! haha! :o)

shes being a real pain in the arse im getting worried about her aggression shes been growling and snapping at my children im putting down to her being in season at the moment

Yeh my dog becomes a bitch in the complete sense of the word when shes in season - ive actually had her go for me this time and its not like her at all..however now shes coming out of it again shes calmed right down! V. strange!! (shes a cocker spaniel)
We used to live next door to a sharpei, have to say that it wasnt the friendliest of dogs and i've met a few now which all seem to be aggressive/overly protective - is it a trait of the breed?

yes nobby very much so she is agressive mostly with teenage boys and men lol (not a bad thing i suppose )my next door neighbour cant even talk to her over fence she wants to eat him she as always been really good with small children and girls its strange she as attacked my 19yr old son numerous times with no provocation but she actually went to snap at me the other day and growling at my 7 yr old daughter i have put her in her place immediatly with a good bite (with my hand ) and a good telling off but hopefully its her hormones and she will calm down

ooh i hope so! Ive been really worried with mine, she was getting out of control and those 2weeks of being on heat seemed to last forever!! However, now shes coming out of it shes calmed right down, is back in wiht the other dogs (without causing capital-carnage!!) and is now listening to me when offlead etc. Its strange how much they change jsut coz of their hormones. Im considering getting her speyed now, coz i cant handle another season like this one!! ARGH!

im getting martha spayed asap tried breeding her twice to be honest i may think shes gay coz she hates male dogs going anywere nr her and she hates young teenage males upto men lol male hateing martha i carnt risk her attacking my youngest she snt been brought up to be agressive in any way she just turned out that way
